Summer 2024 - RALT's Expansion into Cary & Project Updates
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we move into the warmer months, I am excited to share the incredible strides we are making at Raleigh Area Land Trust towards expanding affordable housing opportunities in Raleigh and beyond. Our commitment to ensuring everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home continues to drive our work, and I am proud of what we have achieved together.
The need for housing is top of mind for everyone. In celebration of National Affordable Housing Month, I had the pleasure of discussing RALT’s mission and future goals on WRAL’s 9 am show. This included our latest $525,000 grant from the Cary Town Council aimed at rehabilitating four affordable homes in Wake County. Such support is crucial as we expand our efforts into Cary, bringing more affordable housing solutions to those in need.
We continue to make progress towards groundbreaking for the Cottages of Idlewild development, an 18-unit development that will offer both homeownership and rental opportunities. Earlier this month,Wake County approved a 0% loan of up to $910,000 for the Cottages of Idlewild, ensuring long-term affordability and helping families build generational wealth and investing in the Raleigh Area Land Trust’s Repair/Reserve fund made available to our homeowners. We are immensely grateful to the Wake County Board of Commissioners and all our partners for making this milestone possible.
Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to our mission. Together, we are making significant strides in ensuring safe, affordable housing for all in our community.
Sunny regards,
Kevin Campbell
Executive Director, Raleigh Area Land Trust
