Steps to Buy a RALT Home

To qualify for homeownership through the Raleigh Area Land Trust, applicants must meet the following criteria eligibility criteria:
Must earn between Very Low (50%) to Low (80%) Income Limits set for Wake County, NC - see below.*
Plan to use the RALT home as your primary residence. No rentals/investors.**
Complete the following requirements:
Attend a Raleigh Area Land Trust info session
Submit an online Eligibility Application
Submit a full application to determine eligibility and be placed on the waitlist for future homes (link sent upon completion of Eligibility Application).
Complete 1-hour Financial Counseling provided by DHIC Homeownership Center
Complete 1-Hour CLT Program Orientation (provided after initial eligibility screening)
Complete 8-hour First-time Homebuyer Education Class (DHIC or from DHIC-approved providers)

*Applicants earning below 50% may reach out to RALT staff about potential opportunities. Applicants earning above 80% are limited to buying unsubsidized property in our inventory. These properties will be marked as such. RALT currently does not have any unsubsidized properties.
**Subleases may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
