WUNC: A historic Black community in Wake County is the new location for an affordable housing project

WUNC highlighted how St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and the Raleigh Area Land Trust (RALT) are transforming Raleigh’s historic Idlewild neighborhood with a $300,000 investment in a new affordable housing project. This 18-unit cottage court development focuses on making homeownership accessible to families earning below 60% of the area median income while preserving Idlewild’s cultural significance as one of Raleigh’s first Black homeowning communities. The project, paired with homeownership education sessions offered by RALT, aims to create long-term affordability and generational stability for Wake County residents.
